Abdu Murray Interview

Pre-Interview Research

I was looking forward to this interview immensely. Theology is not something I get to discuss seriously very often, and Mr. Murray, a former Muslim turned Christian apologist, was exactly the kind of person I wanted to talk to. My core question going in: A common criticism of religion is that it’s illogical, or that it doesn’t match up with people’s lived experience of the real world. What would you say to someone who says religion isn’t logical or realistic?

The Conversation

This was possibly my favorite interview I have had. Mr. Murray was extremely thoughtful and intelligible. The full interview can be found in my published article linked below.

What I Learned

We discussed papacy, biblical interpretation, and magisterial authority. Hearing where a Protestant and I agreed and differed on those questions was immeasurably worthwhile.

My Take

As Christians, we are called to evangelize, and that requires knowing what we believe and why. This interview was a reminder of that.

What I’d Do Differently

Next time, I would ask for more time. There was more to cover.
